HHICGC-logo-200x192The purpose of this organization shall be to develop and strengthen cooperation among the garden clubs of Hilton Head Island, SC and to promote joint activities among the member clubs which will aid in the protection of natural resources, enhance civic beauty and encourage the improvement of roadsides and parks.

Our council invites you to join one of our garden clubs or we will help you to start one in your neighborhood. Our garden clubs work to improve our community and encourage a love of gardening and our abounding nature.


Garden club programs include information on horticulture, birds, landscape design, floral arranging and topics of interest to gardeners. The council strives to be of service to local garden clubs by sharing program information and assisting each other in garden club organization.

Our mission is to be of service to Garden Clubs. Organized January 12, 1989 we are associated with National Garden Clubs, Inc, South Atlantic Region (SAR), Garden Club of South Carolina and the West Lowcountry District.

Our council clubs work together to oversee the redevelopment of the Xeriscape Garden which focuses on native plants at Town Hall. They also collaborate with other local organizations and schools in planning and organizing the island’s annual Arbor Day ceremony. The Council has also prepared a Public Gardens of Hilton Head Island brochure for residents and thousands of visitors.

Dues   $20 payable annually in March from member clubs
