4th Monday at 10:30am
(Sept thru May, except Dec)
The Herb Society of Hilton Head Island has been a vital organization since 1972, with bylaws stating that our purposes are to:
- Participate actively in learning how to use, enjoy and preserve herbs and to share this information with the public.
- Act as a service organization in supporting worthy community causes, operating solely for scientific and educational purposes under the provisions of the IRS.
In pursuit of the above, we are a group of between 30 and 40 women members (many long-time but we are excited about the interest of our new members) who meet the fourth Monday morning eight months of the year in the CSA room in Sea Pines Center unless a program takes us elsewhere. The board meets at 9:30, with the general committee of the month then serves refreshments and gives information on the selected herb of the month.
We hold semi-annual herb and product sales for the public. The proceeds are donated to local groups, selected from requests submitted for consideration. We publish our deadlines in the Packet. The members also support and maintain the signature her garden in Heritage Farms in Sea Pines.
The society welcomes visitors and encourages applications for membership from anyone with a genuine interest in herbs, who will also make the time commitment for our monthly meetings and our fall and spring sales, as well as our other responsibilities, including those of being a member of the Hilton Head Island Council of Garden Clubs.
